As at 20 September 2026 the RBA cash rate is 4.35%; new-customer variable rates range from about 5.4% for sharp low-LVR loans to around 6.9% market-wide. Figures are a market-intelligence reference, not credit advice.

ASIC’s pricing inquiry found existing borrowers typically pay 0.30%–0.50% more than new customers at the same lender. On a $600,000 loan that is roughly $1,600+ in extra interest a year.
